Preventing Car Theft or Abuse

Vehicle owner can choose to shut down their vehicles based on many reasons but the common reasons include: theft and driver abuse prevention (Drivers not using the car as advised). Please note that we do not shut down the following assets: bikes, trucks and boats. Also in certain circumstances, we do not shut down Mercedes Benz and Range Rover engines (Reason: check engine light warning will come up after shutting down with tracker,  Machine may be needed to remove the warning sign at extra cost).

We will show you how to stop the engine of your vehicle through SMS method, our App on your phone and also through Web browser on your laptop or tablet.

Shutting down through SMS (Text message):

Engine Control: You can stop the engine of your vehicle successfully in case of theft, robbery, unauthorized access or driver takes the vehicle to where you did not send him.

Send above command as text message to tracker number, the engine of the vehicle will shut down within few seconds. The command is better in lower cases.

• resume123456

Send above command to tracker number as text message will activate the vehicle engine. Just insert the key and start the vehicle.

Everything will work fine all other things being equal.

Shutting down through App:

Step 1: Login on the APP with your username and password

Step 2: Tap the Menu icon (Top left corner, 3 bars)

Step 3: Tap Object Control from menu list

Step 4: Tap the Ellipsis menu icon (3 dots …) then click Plus icon (+ New)

Step 5: Select the target vehicle from the list using drop down, then select engine_stop

Step 6: Select Send to confirm your action.

 

        

 

             

 

Shutting down through Web browser on laptop, tablet or iPad:

Step 1: Login on your laptop or tablet or iPad via server.autotracker.com.ng using your username and password

Step 2: Click in the ellipsis menu (3 dots …) in image 1 below, then click on send command

Step 3: Select the vehicle you wish to shut down from the list of your vehicles using the drop down menu, then select Engine Stop

Step 4: Confirm the action by clicking Send

Step 5: In Step 3, Select Engine Resume to revert the process

NB: The vehicle will not shut down immediately if the vehicle is on the highway speeding, shut down will take place whenever the driver slows down to 20KMH, this mechanism was designed to protect lives and properties and to reduce accident.

Also note that this method can only work if your device is Online i.e connected to our server. It will not work if your vehicle is Offline. Online devices will show Green Signal while Offline device will show White signal.
